Betta eating detritus worms. Today i noticed i have what i think are detritus worms in my tank. So i have a planted 20l with a betta a snail and harlequin rasboras. What i would suggest is cleaning your gravel as you have been and try to feed your betta some freeze dried or better yet live daphnia.

I have detritus worms in my tank and ive learned to except them as part of the tank cuz no matter how hard i try they dont go away. Although harmless the detritus worms shouldn t be allowed to fester because of their quick reproduction rate. Fish keepers often run into this issue and look for quick ways to get rid of them.
While these worms won t directly harm your fish they can be very problematic to the overall tank environment. Better if there are crevices foliage for them to hide. From what few i ve read it seems they aren t harmful but i come here to ask and make sure because i tend to trust this community more lol.
If you spot a mass of tiny stringy white worms living in the substrate those are most likely detritus worms these creatures feed on uneaten food fish waste and general detritus in your tank hence the worms name. A female betta is less aggressive than a male but it s hard to predict their behaviors to the amanos espcially when they are hungry and without food. There s only one way to deal with detritus.
I have 1 live plant java moss and had 3. Although the worms are not harmful to the fish the conditions in which they thrive can be fatal. Daphnia releaves betta constipation like nothing else in bettas.
