Betta Fish Hiding All Day

Betta fish hiding all day. If your betta feels like he s too out in the open and he has nowhere to hide then he s going to stick to his same hiding place all the time. I have a 13 gallon tank and today i purchased some neon tetras and danios so that the tank didn t always look so empty but since i put the new fish in my betta has been hiding in the farthest corner of his favorite little hut and i haven t seen him leave it once. Has he become shy.

Tested for the ammonia and the 5 in 1 tests and they were all normal. My problem with him is that he acts lethargic nearly all the time and spends most of his day hiding instead of swimming and exploring. Discussion starter 1 1 mo ago.

Joined 3 mo ago 4 posts. He only ever comes out in the morning because he knows its feeding time. Just a note before i continue some fish just like hiding in caves.

Once he was in there he went and hid under the log and stayed there the whole day. I m having trouble trying to figure out the poor thing and i wanted more insight. In the wild betta fish can quickly become prey to bigger fish so they prefer being in areas with a lot of hiding holes.

Betta not swimming anymore hiding all day long and no longer eating. I have the filter on low because i heard the higher settings can disturb the fish or even catch their fins maybe i should turn it up. Is hiding always a sign of fear and should you be worried if your betta suddenly starts hiding.
