Betta Fish Is Sick After Water Change
I think he will perk up unless the damage has been too much.
Betta fish is sick after water change. Water temperature fluctuations are the major reason for most of the fish who fall ill seemingly out of nowhere. Hasn t eaten a single pellet the whole time. I make sure the water is the same temperature as in the old water and finally i move betta to his home he is usually very happy after a water change but this time he seems sick he is at the bottom of his tank and hasn t eaten yet.
I don t know how to help. New clean water is the best remedy at this point and may be all your betta needs. Because the fish live in the water and the changes happen slowly they adjust to it.
It s been two days and he is still just breathing heavily and staying up for air. Mine got sick after 100 water change. The cause is more complex than that.
Betta laying on bottom or actually sitting on tail with head up betta fish is laying top down bottom up very sick and dying but still breathing won t surface. See if he perks up after flushing and continue the regime of doing a small 20 30 water change every day for a week. I changed my betta s water like always i move the betta to another place i condition the new water and wait for it to blend i make 50 50 or 75 25 changes.
Over time the by products of fish waste uneaten food particles dead leaves from plants etc alter the chemistry of the water. This in addition to adding aquarium salt would make sure that the change doesn t stress the betta out. I had no idea that was bad for them.
High ammonia and nitrate levels caused by waste aren t visible but can seriously stress out and cause harm to you bettta. The answer is yes but not because water changes are inherently bad. I have a betta fish in a 3 gallon tank with a filter how often should i change the water.
