Betta Fish Keeps Hiding

Many fish do not feel comfortable unless they have a place or two of their own where they can hide whenever they feel threatened.

Betta fish keeps hiding. The second i saw him in the tube i pulled out the tube he was already out of it then i covered the hole it was held in with some of those flat decorative marbles. When i first put him in he swam happy and energetic with the other 4 neon tectras for a week then he hid behind the filter and he will come out once or twice but he will not eat when he does i feed him every other day. Fish keeping is supposed to be fun.

If your betta feels like he s too out in the open and he has nowhere to hide then he s going to stick to his same hiding place all the time. He would eat all of the pieces but throw up some in large chunks of meat make the slices of the meat looks like a ball or something during the night i overfed him in the past but he constantly throw up the ones he can t digst in the past there is no gravel so it is easy to clean up the mess. Keeping the water warm was always tricky for me too. Providing more hiding places that are always available will often cause timid fish to stay out in view more of the time.
