Betta Kh And Gh
He has so much life and enthusiasm.
Betta kh and gh. We have a betta named jaws and he is the love of this house. Kh is not the same as gh. Bettas prefer soft water but they do tolerate a wide range of gh between 5 20 dh or 70 300 ppm.
Things like shrimp may be more sensitive to higher kh if tds is too high. He watches us move around the house all day and he is so alert when i walk up to the counter. As far as kh anything above 70ppm will hold a stable ph which is important.
Gh is basically a measurement of divalent cations namely mg magnesium and ca calcium where as kh is a measurement of carbonate concentration both gh and kh can affect hardness and tds levels however the reverse is not necessarily true. But for betta you have very nice parameters. Gh measures the amount of magnesium and calcium dissolved in water or general hardness of water.
When attempting to increase or decrease ph in the aquarium kh will need to be considered as a tank with a wrong kh level can make things difficult to adjust. Good afternoon all i have a betta tank with around 5 gallons. He lives in a 1 5 gallon tank and is 4 years old.
I feed him 2 4 pellets a day. Ideal gh for a bettas is 90 110 so your not much over that and it should be just fine. Ph 6 5 7 5 ammonia 0ppm chlorine 0ppm nitrites 0ppm nitrates less than 40ppm gh general hardness and kh should be around 100 150ppm.
