Female Betta Fish Egg Bound

When a female betta is egg bound she will have a dark spot on her stomach and you may be able to see the eggs.

Female betta fish egg bound. Hi i have a female betta fish and a male betta i keep them separated in different tanks. At first i wanted to breed them so i kept their tanks close to each other. Of course there is always a possibility of being egg bound but betta females will many time just release the eggs or they can re absorb into the body.

We don t have a male and aren t looking to breed. When i first got the female she was still young but now she s full grown. Hand stripping a betta fish you could kill it if you do it wrong i have seen females blow there egg cavities apart because producing eggs so much keeping males next to females or visa versa yes it makes the female turn on there little hormones quicker for producing eggs sooo doesn t leave much choice.

The one health issue that female bettas are prone to is becoming egg bound. I think my female betta is egg bound. There were no eggs and the fish died.

Is there anything i need to do to make sure she ll be okay and pass the eggs. Female bettas will not get egg bound unless you are breeding them with a male in which case they will put their eggs in a bubble nest or if you have a divided tank with a male and female betta divided. Is my female betta bloated or egg bound.

An egg bound betta looks extremely bloated almost constipated but instead of being unable to go she is full of eggs and unable to get rid of them. I would think more that the problem was bloat. I have had females in a jar by themselves just release the eggs.
