Male Betta In Community Tank
Missing the company of having an appealing tank and fish in my room i began to research about possibly forming the 20g tank that my previous betta had lived in into a community with a new betta and maybe some other fish.
Male betta in community tank. It s a heavily planted 120 gallon tank with 6 bolivian rams 20 rainbow emperor tetras 30 pygmy cories and 40 otocinclus. Make sure the tank is big enough first of all if you plan on creating a betta harem then you re going to need a good sized tank. My betta right now is in a planted tank with cardinal tetras danios cories and otocinclus.
I originally had the tank separated but he got around the divider. He s been with the other fish for a few days now and seems pretty content. Under the right condition and environment there are many betta fish tank mates that can live with male or female bettas in the aquarium.
If you have a single male betta fish you may be thinking of finding some tank mates to keep him company or adding him into a community tank environment so he isn t so lonely. Space is kind of tight so i was wondering if i could plop the fellow into my 57 gal community tank. My male veil tail betta is housed in a 55 gallon community tank with many different fish including fancy guppies and everyone lives together peacefully.
No worries i wouldn t put them with barbs or anything nippy. In the past every community tank i ve had would either have something the betta would harass or something that might harass the betta so i never got one. I m pretty knowledgeable about bettas but i m not experienced with them being in a community tank.
He saw my aquarium and decided that he wanted to hand the fish over to me instead. But i just realized my current setup might actually work. I have had male bettas in community tanks with no problems.
The males only get homicidal truly homicidal when they are with another male. However you also know that male betta fish have a fierce reputation for fighting and you might fear that any other fish he comes across will be in for a bruising. 75 gallons is a good start however it s the minimum size that you should choose.
