My betta fish has fin rot what should i do. I have a 5 5gal tank with a filter i have silk and soft rubber plants in the tank and my betta lives alone. I bought fungus clear a few weeks ago and gave him a dose. The flesh of the fins is eaten away but the bones remain.
It didnt get better so i added aquarium salt as instructed but it still is not getting better. I m also having a little algae problem. Before you start treating fin rot you should know what causes fin rot in bettas. Poor water quality is going to make your aquarium a breeding ground for bacteria parasites and fungal infections.
The number one cause of fin rot in bettas as well as all fish is poor water quality. And up to 1 teaspoon per gallon for ill fish. I noticed he had fin rot a couple months ago.
It s gotten way worse since then. I m pretty sure it s fin rot. It is often caused by a dirty tank poor care or exposure to other fish who have infectious diseases.
