Betta Fish Water Nitrate
I have a betta fish that lives in a 3 gallon tank with a filter a heater and a banana plant.
Betta fish water nitrate. Any level of above 20 ppm could turn out to be too high in the long run. Nitrate is harmful to fish at high concentrations keep your reading at or below 20 ppm. More water changes will help reduce it.
Faucet water may contain everything from chemotherapy agents to industrial pollutants. B t w the fish is a male and his name is fier. Clean water is a must for any fish especially bettas.
I like to keep my tanks nitrates below 20. Nitrates are of no real benefit to fish but are good for plants. Test every day and if you are seeing higher numbers change a small amount of the water 20 without bothering the filter.
While betta fish will adapt to water that is slightly one way or the other the ideal parameters are. There is no way to know what is in tap water or how it will. Monitoring water conditions is always a good idea to ensure we are providing our betta fish with ideal environmental conditions.
For a healthy betta or goldfish keep the nitrate levels in their aquarium at 10 ppm or less if you want to see them happy and thriving. The first difference is that betta water conditioners are often diluted. I recently got my api master test kit to test the tanks water.
It is impossible to. And your nitrate under 20 or 30 ppm some fish keepers are fine with nitrates as high as 50. If you only have the single betta and multiple plants in the tank they could be processing the nitrates out well enough.
