Film On Top Of Water In Betta Fish Tank
Is it the fish flakes.
Film on top of water in betta fish tank. My betta tank has film. My fiance read on some betta forums that to get rid of the film place a paper towel on top of the water let it get all wet and pick it back out. You should do a water change.
There are bubbles at the edge of the tank but no nest. I did this on my 2 5 gallon tank no filter so the film was normal from what he read about standing water and it worked well. I changed my water last night by morning there was a film again.
Or it could be some chemical that. For some weird reason a thin layer of translucent gunk keeps appearing at the surface of her water. She lives in a 1 gallon tank which i clean about once a week.
Or the tank itself. You see oxygen enters the water through the surface of your aquarium. Some people have attributed this to feeding bloodworm that the film comes from food.
A thick oily film can act as a barrier preventing oxygen from entering your aquarium. It could be food that dissolved which you don t want in the water. So 3 days ago i got a 1 gallon betta tank with no filter i saw this morning when i dropped the food pellet into it that it caused a clear spot in the top level which soon closed up and i was wondering if this was something to be alarmed about.
And as you know oxygen is pretty important your fish need it to breathe. Got all the film out and didn t come back til i changed the water again. I thought it was the result of making bubble nests as it didn t seem to start until my betta made nests.
